Door County is a peninsula in northeastern Wisconsin, with Green Bay on one side and Lake Michigan on the other. There’s a lot to see and do here, in every season. Here are some of the things that draw me back.

Some of the best moments here happen behind the wheel. Slow down, roll the windows down and follow the county’s winding roads under a canopy of trees. Every bend seems to open onto a new view, and there’s always somewhere to pull over.
Keep your eyes open. Old garages wrapped in vines, weathered signs, a pickup truck retired as a flower bed: the peninsula is full of small details that tell a story. They’re often my favorite things to photograph.

Fish Creek, Ephraim, Sister Bay, Egg Harbor and Baileys Harbor each have their own character, with harbors, shops, galleries, restaurants and sunsets over the bay.
Peninsula State Park, Whitefish Dunes and Cave Point County Park offer hiking, biking, paddling and dramatic limestone cliffs along Lake Michigan.
Historic lighthouses such as Cana Island stand along the shoreline, and the ferry to Washington Island makes a great day trip.
Cherry and apple orchards, farm markets, and a traditional Door County fish boil: eating well is part of the experience.
Spring blossoms, long summer days, brilliant fall color and quiet, snowy winters. Door County has something different to offer every time of year.
Kayaking, sailing, fishing and simply sitting on a dock at sunset: the water is never far away on this peninsula.
